With the November 2024 Elections fast approaching, and questions still looming large in the minds of voters regarding the quality and soundness of the electoral process, The Integrity Project gathers a prestigious group of elections experts Friday, May 31, for an important virtual conversation – “A Real Discussion About Election Integrity.”
Co-hosted by the University of Wisconsin’s Elections Research Center, and moderated by ERC Director, Dr. Barry Burden, this timely discussion will focus on a range of concerns citizens have raised in recent years regarding the safety and security of voting.
“With so many claims surrounding the integrity of our elections, we felt it was important to have a frank and honest discussion aiming to ‘clear the air’ around issues, both real or imagined, that might have folks understandably worried about the whole process of voting,” says The Integrity Project’s Executive Director Scott Brooks, “with our goal being to allay those concerns and encourage full participation come November.”

BARRY BURDEN
Barry Burden, event moderator, is Professor of Political Science, the Director of the Elections Research Center, and is the Lyons Family Chair in Electoral Politics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as a board member of The Integrity Project.
Dr. Burden is co-editor of The Measure of American Elections, author of Personal Roots of Representation, and co-author of Why Americans Split Their Tickets: Campaigns, Competition, and Divided Government. He has also published articles in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, British Journal of Political Science, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Science Quarterly, and Electoral Studies.
NATE PERSILY
Nate Persily is the James B. McClatchy Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, with appointments in the departments of Political Science, Communication, and the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies. He is the Founding Co-Director of the Stanford Cyber Policy Center and its Program on Democracy and the Internet, as well as the Stanford-MIT Healthy Elections Project.
Dr. Persily is co-author of the election law casebook, The Law of Democracy and co-editor of Social Media and Democracy: The State of the Field and Prospects for Reform. He has served as a special master or court-appointed expert to craft congressional or legislative districting plans for Georgia, Maryland, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. He also served as the Senior Research Director for the Presidential Commission on Election Administration and served as a commissioner on the Kofi Annan Commission on Elections and Democracy in the Digital Age.
KIMBERLEY WYMAN
Kimberley Wyman was elected as the 15th Secretary of State of the State of Washington from 2013 to 2021. After being elected to her third term as Secretary of State, she resigned in early 2021 to accept a position as the Senior Election Security Advisor for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in the Biden Administration.
Sec. Wyman currently serves as Senior Fellow of the Elections Project at the Bipartisan Policy Center, sits on the bipartisan Advisory Board of the States United Democracy Center, and is a Certified Elections/Registration Administrator from Auburn University.
TREY GRAYSON
Trey Grayson was the 83rd Secretary of State for the State of Kentucky from 2004-2011, also serving as chair of the Republican Association of Secretaries of states as well as president of the National Association of Secretaries of state as the first Kentuckian to hold either position.
Sec. Grayson is currently Managing Director at law firm Frost Brown Todd's subsidiary, CivicPoint and serves on the Advisory Board of the States United Democracy Center. He formerly served as Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John. F. Kennedy School of Government was co-chair of Gabrielle Gifford's “Gabby PAC,” and was president and CEO of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
TAMMY PATRICK
Tammy Patrick is CEO of Programs for the Election Center at the National Association of Election Administrators as well as for the Bipartisan Policy Center. She is recognized nationally as a leader and expert in election administration.
Prof. Patrick served previously as Senior Advisor to the Elections Program at Democracy Fund where she focused on voter-centric policy and programs, collaboration of election officials, and modernization of election systems. She served as an appointed Commissioner to President Barack Obama’s Presidential Commission on Election Administration and as the Federal Compliance Officer for the Maricopa County Elections Department in Arizona for 11 years.
